Stardew Valley (Animal Crossing/Harvest Moon crossover)

Is it more animal crossing or harvest moon?

I spent stupid amounts of time playing animal crossing wild world on the DS (I remember spending a 5 hour car journey fishing) but never quite got into harvest moon.

Other people's opions matter to me, so I'm asking for them.
It does look like something I'd enjoy, but so do the other 40+ games on my steam wishlist, but I can't buy them all :p!

From what I've seen. Everyone rates it very highly.
I still say just go for it.
Or make it 41+ haha

It's much more like Harvest Moon imo, but it can be treated like an Animal Crossing game if you want to ignore the farming aspect. You just won't make as much money as fast, but fishing, foraging and mining are decent for making money. Fishing is actually better than farming early game so if you loved doing that in Animal Crossing you can do it here.

I only just bought this game yesterday and did a search for a thread on it. Absolutely loving it. In one evening I somehow sunk 6 hours into without even moving from my desk. If anyone is still debating whether to get it or not, for the 11 quid I paid for it on steam it's the best money I've spent on a game for ages.

I expected there to be a busier thread on it though tbh.

Anyone here playing Stardew Valley? I heard it's similar to Animal Crossing & Harvest Moon and I instantly bought it as I loved them games - I'm only a few hours in but its amazing so far! & what surprises me the most is that this game was only made by 1 guy! The gameplay, soundtrack, graphics, everything is phenomenal if you like these type of games. We finally have a game like this on PC:p

Only £10.99:

If anyone else out there is playing, any tips/tricks you have? I can't farm these parsnips forever:D

9 hours in, saving for the winter when I'm going to do a proper parsnip field, potato field and bean field.

Entry level fishing rod is so blimming hard to use, still getting some decent fish :) Couple of years time I'll have enough to get some livestock and a horse! I've also got my eye on a blue haired lass!

This has even got a dungeon crawler adventure as well!

Blows animal farm/Harvest Moon out of the Window!

Oh, and don't forget to check the trash cans.

Best game this year for me, developed by one person.

Well, finally sunk some hours in to this! Purchased it at release just as our baby was born and the whole saves at the end of a day thing just didnt work for me with hardly any play time back then! 7-8 months later u fired it up the other day and have already lost 7 hours to it :)

I do get a constant feeling that im not spending my in game days effectively, dunno maybe im worrying too much! Am a few days in to summer, got loads of blueberries on the way, silo has gone up and the bint is building my coop :D

Tool wise only managed to upgrade watering can and fishing rod soo far.

I want sprinklers but hardly getting any iron yet, is that more of a later game thing? Got to level 25 or 30 of the mines so far

The game is a thing of beauty

I'm not sure what else there is left for me to do now apart from getting all the friendships up to maximum heart level. I kept playing until I bought the mega-expensive item and that's that.

i think up until a certain point its quite good. But tbh i got tired of looking at the 8 bit graphics all the time. And nothing really happened that made me give a **** about the characters or the plot. I think as a time-sink its good can easily faff the day away farming, mining and what not. I just got bored with it.

I've really enjoyed it and think I have about 10+ hrs logged (filthy casual :p) - I'm only up to the middle of the second season on the first year!!! But I have hit a little wall with the game not keeping me interested enough - I don't feel I can be bothered, and it sometimes feels like work :p After reading how much fishing annoys everyone - I was surprised that I think it's the most enjoyable part of the game for me :p

The graphics grate on me after a while also - I think my experience is very similar to yours Surfer - Nice game for a while, but got bored of it too soon
