stargate worlds ?

MMO's arent about graphics though, some of the best that were out there were MUD's. Its like warhammer, wont have the best graphics out there but the gameplay looks like it'll be legendary, the same could be of the stargate mmo.
 
Yeah, I remember reading that back in late 2006, but since then I have heard virtually nothing about it, so at the moment I am taking it as vaporware rather than a concrete title under development
 
could do with more stargate MMO footage really to get a better picture of the game, it looks ok in that trailer though. on a side note i started collecting the series volumes recently on DVD, up to 4 atm. :)

the firefly one however i dont think will work as an MMO at all, ide much rather have a new movie or series. :(
 
If it ain't first person, then I'm not interested. I love Stargate and Atlantis though so it's a pity they decided to make a trainspottingesque RPG rather than a good FPS out of it.
 
Wasn't Sierra working on a Bab5 MMO at one point, which got canned because they had to close down the studio that was developing it to save money?
 
get the feeling it will suck tbh, stargate was great up until the last couple of series where idea's were lacking, writing was poor, enemies were weak and was overall a let down. IE, i can see that continuing on a new game now. My guess would be too many appearances by the crappier cast members, to much trying to make them part of the story and not going for original stories. but i could be wrong, but based on how the FPS got quite a way in then completely canned, the series itself was canned as they had no where to go with it, and this game has been delayed again with no one realistically expecting to see it in 2008 at the moment. IT has canceled in 2008 written all over it.

Also, atlantis is a big pile of balls, first series was ok/good. rest has sucked.

Personally i think due to the massively long series and having no where to go a stupidly long MMO will be horribly drawn out where a FPS with limited storyline/length would have been freaking awesome to play. Problem is companies see the amount of money WOW is raking in and want to turn any franchise that will, even if crap, keep a decent amount of people paying subs for 2-3 years, into an MMO.

A brand new MMO has only its gameplay to attract players, a franchise made into an MMO has an automatic income even if its fairly crap. Lotro would have had thousands of subscribers even if it was awful, but they actually put effort into it and still are.
 
yeh the last couple series were worse, but according to the dev notes stargate worlds is "based upon the what is considered the golden era of stargate, this being series 3 to 8" so that solves that.
and atlantis is planned as an expansion pack to be released later so no need to buy it if you dont like.
 
Is it going to be another click a button grind fest. Or is it going to be fps, with lots of role play elements alongside the action.
