im having trouble with loading up and shutting down my computer

it gets stuck for about 1 minute on start up where i have the mouse and wallpaper only, waiting for something to load, but i have no idea what.

there is also about a 1 minute pause when shutting down, on the saving your settings screen.

if anybody has had similar problem and located the beast, or might have an idea of how to help me, it would be much appreciated.

GO INTO HELP TOOLS SYSTEM CONFIG...
STARTUP...SEE WHAT IS STARTING UP...
ALSO THE WINDOWS PROCESS HIDE ALL WINDOWS PROCESSES TO SEE IF ANYTHING ELSE IS ON IT..

PERSONALLY I THINK YOU MAY HAVE A SPYWARE/VIRUS KILLER SCHEDULED TO RUN ON STARTUP/SHUTDOWN

AND WHY AM I ON CAPS...BECAUSE I BUGGERED THE CAPS KEY

Hold shift and type, it will do lowercases if you're on caps.

And yeah, check for any unwanted programs loading at startup.

well i tried the error check thing but the one and my computer froze for like 20 minutes on start up.

so somethings No swearing!. im just really stuck as to what.

im running kaspersky anti virus. seems some people think that could be it? but ive had that a while.

urgh

life sucks

I have seen that with a few NEC machines recently when you open task manager no processes have an User Name assigned to them and it stopped our software working.

The only way round it was to log off then back on or else reinstall XP.
