and iraq is too crap to figure out how to open the instructions to SAM site, never mind use one to bring down a plane.

First you call them "dumbass iraqis", now you are calling them "too crap to open instructions"

If they are that dumb, please explain to me how they managed to shoot down 20 odd planes last time round? Please explain to me that if they are as dumb as you make them out to be, how did they manage to increase the range of the Scud from 350km to over 650km?

Arrogant overconfidence like this is what caused 50k casualties on the yank side in 'Nam. Never underestimate your enemy. Don't belittle them either, they are doing their duty just like everyone else. Considering their position, they are doing a good job at it too. Shame they can't see that their first duty is towards their country, not towards Saddam. Hopefully it will change soon.

BREAKING NEWS

There are reports of huge blasts in west Baghdad as planes pound a single target in the city, according to Reuters.

"The earth shook under our feet and buildings shook. A huge, huge cloud of white smoke billowed hundreds of feet into the sky," Reuters correspondent Nadim Ladki said.

"From what we have seen in the last few days, I think these must have been some of the biggest bombs dropped in Baghdad so far," he added.

Three or four more explosions were later heard from different areas of the capital, including one near the centre of the city.

Some of the bombs loaded onto the B52s at Fairfield were M117 (the ones with a yellow ring near the nose)

These weapons date back to Korea

I doubt it makes that much difference, it's a bomb, you lob it out of a plane and it goes bang. Job done. :)

The age and therefore sophistication of the weapon defines how likely the "bang" is to occur in the same post code area as intended. Does it land on a military target or a Mosque?

It's a war, what do you expect?

They're not exactly going to go down to the river bank so that any pilots in the river can start shooting at them are they now. :o

In war it's either kill or be killed!

If the pilots have bailed out where's the wreckage of the plane. Modern fighters are big and they would make a big hole in Baghdad.

Considering all the camera crews where are the pictures of his capture?
