this proberly doesnt need its own thread but hey, its fridaynight and im bored :o

Started folding to help you guys out lol!
I followed the quick set-up guide and at the moment i have just have a dos screen that says "0 out of 20000000 steps"

it has been on this screen for ages. Is this normal?
 
Sounds about right, you could try setting it up as a service, that way you dont get the DOS window and then use FAHmon to monitor its progress...

As for 0 out of 2000000000000, it totally depends on your system how long it takes to do a frame, anything between 2mins and 30mins depending on machine and WU.
 
Yes. It'll only change either when it completes 1% of the steps or when a timered checkpoint is triggered. If you get one of the 2124 or 2126 projects it can take the best part of an hour to do 1%. Download FAHMon or EMIII as they'll give you some idea of the time remaining.

Yeh i have fahmon 2.1.5 but it just shows blank, as in core/project/credit/username etc are all blank, as if it isnt picking up the folding?
 
Sounds like FAHmon isnt configured to me, right client in the window area and select add client, point it at the F@H installation directory and accept.

If you follow the guide it should be working as a service so go to services.msc and stop it then close dos and start it again. Should leave you with just lovely background folding :)

As for the FAHmon problem, click FAHmon and then select Download New Projects. That should get you all the info.

i thought i was mate lol, look at my edit ^^

It is still at 0, using 100% of cpu power on a amd 64 3000+. (been on 0 for about 10minutes)

Yep just wait :p

Bring up the log with F8, as that can be handy if you're having any problems.


That work unit takes aages per frame on my cpu (3000+), about 45mins!

Look at it again in an hour :)

The status (unknown state) is unlikely to change for at least an hour's worth of continuous folding of the WU. Give it time ;)

oooh I'd not noticed we're up to v2.1.5 of FahMon now - I see it's added in the username, will have a looky see what else there is new :)


welcome to the team - shame you started on that Work Unit as they are horrible and slow :o
 
ah so im guessing WU = works unit, a selection of cycles that it does?

Any chance to skip this, i hopefully will have joined the RAF by april and it wont even have finished by then lol :o

Unfortunatly that WU on my 3200+ ClawHammer is estimating over 4 days. Less than 100 ppd :(

So whatever you do you've got pretty long wait lol hopefully after this WU you'll get something different if not just keep at it :)
 
FahMon needs two complete frames before it can give an ETA - don't worry it will be complete long before you have to join the RAF

To avoid getting another one afterwards you should add the -advmethods flag or change the config so advmethods is used as default - that should get you some much nicer WUs
