Starter tool kits?

It gets that bad after only 50k! Is there a way to actually fix it or do you just have to keep cleaning it every 50k or so?

Nobody has fixed it, it's a direct injection problem, no fuel getting sprayed on there.

Some claim that routing the oil breather to a catch can will help a lot, but it's running a complicated crank case pressure system with oil recovery deal that's a total pain to tap in to. Taking pipes right off the headers will possibly just empty the oil rather quickly.

There's also that it could be largely caused by exhaust back-flow into the intake, which isn't going away.

I won't be keeping the car much longer than any of my others, so I'm not too concerned, I'm not going in there again. I think we'll start seeing direct injection petrol engines with a row of supplementary injectors in the old location in the intakes. If someone manages a successful class action about this then the big manufacturers are going to be massively ******.
