Starting a cordless power tool collection with garden tools - Ryobi?

I forgot to say, you can get battery clip things for most of the main brands of these batteries, the idea being you can put them on the wall/side of a unit/under a shelf etc and have your spare batteries readily accessable.
I've got a little charging station set up for my batteries with a twin and single charger, and then the holders for the batteries above the chargers so when a battery is charged it pops onto the holder ready and you just take them off like you'd do if they were in a tool/on the charger:)

They're something like 5 for £15 from Amazon etc and make it much easier to store them neatly and safely.

I have a really cheap set of black and decker. I use 18v for everything... Except mower.
That's petrol. No way a battery could cope with how long I leave the lawn at times. Usually try to time it with the green bin collection.

I wouldn't go B&D again. But it has been cheap!

Cheers everyone.

At the moment my working plan is to go with the Greenworks 40V stuff (that's 4V more! :D ) - but I'm going to wait until they're on sale. Probably Black Friday. I'll carry on slumming it with my corded stuff in the meantime.

I’ve got the Ryobi 18v lawnmower, strimmer, hedge cutter and the 20cm chainsaw (not including the other hand tools like drills and saws). I’ve had Ryobi stuff for years, a lot in the old blue and yellow colour scheme handed down after my grandfather died. It all still works and the later stuff is on the one+ system.

One thing I’ve learnt with Ryobi is that they’re so cheap (comparatively), they don’t really go on offer too often, and the offers aren’t great. That really stings when another, more premium brand might have a blinder of a deal on that one tool you need want, but the Ryobi offering is more expensive for a weaker product.

Sign up to the Ryobi newsletter, they do some really good deals on the website, I picked up the Router and 4ah battery starter kit for £89 during Easter because of the bank holidays. They normally run a “free bare tool when bought with xyz” promos which can help if they have what you need.

Just reporting back - I did buy the Greenworks mower in the sales. And I finally got around to using it yesterday. Rather late in the year for mowing, but it's the first time it's been dryish since September so the last mow of the year was still needed. Besides which - it's by far the easiest way to pick up the vast majority of fallen leaves.

Very pleased with it. It didn't bog down, even with the tonnes of leaves. The collection bag is much bigger than on my old Bosch corded (even so, filled it 4 times because of all the leaves!) And you really don't realise how much time you spend re-arranging the cable, flicking it out of the way, etc until you don't have to. Oh, and just about managed all my lawns with a single 2Ah battery, so that's cooled my range anxiety.

I will see about adding a strimmer (or maybe a brush cutter - does the same job but without strimmer line breaking every 5 seconds?) and hedge trimmer in the new year.
