Starting to get fed up with O2

Every sodding day it seems O2 are having problems as my iPhone constantly says that it "cannot activate cellular data network." There is nothing wrong with the configuration because it works fine most of the time. Dad's iPhone does exactly the same when mine won't connect.

Anyone else suffering?

My brother complains about reception a lot (on o2 with iphone 3g) yet I am on o2 in the same place with full reception (n95).

Same story with 3g coverage. Could it be the iphones or maybe even the cases they are kept in?

Its the iphone, not o2. My friend and I both are on o2, but even sitting next to him I get 3G when he only get EDGE. Maybe stop wrapping your hands around it and let it get some signal?

A friend of mine has a 3gs arriving in a week so I will check to see if her reception is any better than my brothers 3g! I hope it is as I want get one at some point :)

Erm o2's data network problems are well documented of late so I doubt its the phone. 3 complete crashes of the entire network have occured in the last few weeks.

My business is being moved elsewhere next week and I'll never go anyhwere near o2 again.

The problem is that O2 are the best operator bar their choice of phones. None of the other networks come close to the amount of coverage plus O2 never cocked up my bill over 5 years, unlike vodafone

Id probably say o2s choice of phones is on par with the rest of them tbh.
And as already said o2 has far from the best coverage.

i've found ok decent enough since switching to them over a year ago when going for the iphone 3g. but i take a lot has to do with were you are in regards reception but i've being with pals on different networks o2's seem to be on par or better

Maybe I'm just lucky. I've got two phones with O2. One iPhone, one Nokia and I've never had any problems with either. Always get 4/5 bars and 3G wherever I happen to be.

Sux4some.

O2 have the worst 3G coverage of all the networks.

They have the worst quoted 3G network, but from my experience when I dont have 3G nobody else does either. Plus I'd rather a better 2G network tbh, need that to make calls, something that Orange and T-mobile are useless at

I live and work in London. On O2, I'm lucky if I get 3G 20% of the time. By comparison, I rarely get anything less than HSDPA on Vodafone or 3. It's just appalling. If you can't even blanket a densely populated city like London in 3G coverage then you're doing something wrong.

O2 really need to invest some money into their network. Let's not forget that they were told off by the regulator for not meeting the coverage requirements of their 3G license.

I recently had the same "no cellular package" problem with my 3GS. I did recently change my contract to the simplicity 20 so I'm hoping it's the changeover thats causing the problem. However with all the documented problems with the O2 data network recently I'm not holding my breath.

i have o2 where i am as its the best for the areas i travell, at home i get hsdpa most of the time, but it does drop out a lot, 5 miles away i can just get gprs, orange is terrible as is tmob and voda, dam small towns lol.

02 fail

Argh that is quite annoying. Well I'll copy direct from the help site:

Go in to the settings menu on my iPhone and select General > Network > Cellular Data Network.
Change the Cellular Data APN to mobile.o2.co.uk. Leave username and password as is.
Change the MMS APN to wap.o2.co.uk. You don't need to change any of the other MMS settings.
Reboot the device for settings to take effect.

Hope this helps.

I would say its the iphone - people complain a lot about it with theirs at work when my sony ericsson phone is still on O2 fine.

I've found O2 to have the best coverage in the south for a good quality signal, tho its a bit more varied up north.
