Since buying my first car before xmas, I've had trouble free motoring.....until tonight! Please bare in mind, I have absolutely no mechanical know how....

I drove the car into the city centre today, everything was fine - Returned to the car this evening but it wouldn't start first time! I turned the key yet the car kept making that starting noise(you know the one) but wouldn't start. I then switched the key off and tried again, the car started. Dropping the GF off, I turned off the engine, had the usual chat in the car before leaving....again, the car wouldn't start first time!

Any ideas? Apologies for the terrible description! :p

It is French but it's been fantastic so far :p

I just panicked last night, twice in a row it wouldn't start properly - it's never happened before!

I've yet to try it today, so I'll report back when/if I head out with it later.

Whatever, I've noticed on a few cars sometimes when they've been stopped and started a few times it takes a little longer to start up. I certainly wouldn't start panic if my car took slightly longer to start than usual on the odd occasion. If it starts to behave like this constantly then they'll be cause for concern.

Sounds like a leaky injector.

Run some injector cleaner through it (something like redex - put it in a full tank of petrol - READ THE LABEL!) and see if it improves.

Does it sound like it's turning over slowly, or at full speed but just not firing?

First one would be electrics, second would be engine.

By "turning over" do you mean the ignition/starting noise? If so, I'd say the second one. When I turn the key, it goes at regular speed but the engine doesn't start.

Took the car out twice today - all was fine, started normally everytime. :D

Could it have been anything to do with the heavy rain yesterday?
