Startup issue, suspect the psu

I've recently decided to rebuild a pc I built around 6 years ago, so went ahead and purchased a new mobo, processor, memory and graphics card, thinking that the psu I had would be fine.

However with everything put together, when I power up, all the fans spin, the mobo led and gpu led light up, but it doesn't boot, just a black screen and no beeps. The monitor just says no signal.

My specs specs are:

Motherboard - MSI 970 GAMING AMD 970 (SOCKET AM3+) DDR3 ATX MOTHERBOARD

Processor - AMD PILEDRIVER FX-6 SIX CORE 6300 BLACK EDITION 3.50GHZ (SOCKET AM3+)

Raijintek Ereboss cooler

Memory - CORSAIR Vengeance CML8GX3M2A1600C9 DDR3 PC Memory - 8 GB DIMM RAM

PSU - OCZ OCZ600MXSP-UK ModXStream Pro 600W ATX Power Supply

Now being the only part I didn't change, I'm wondering if the psu is up to the job of powering the new parts?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Couple of things to check, all power connections connected the motherboard including the 4 or 8 pin for CPU power - the same goes for the GPU.

Check the locations of memory as some motherboards are fussy which slots are used.

Also try a CMOS reset as this sometimes help.

I would be surprised it's your PSU, as in terms of power this more than enough for your system, but does not rule out being faulty. Can you test any components I another system?

I thought I had a case speaker in my case, seems I don't, so I'll have to grab one today from a spare pc at work, that might help diagnose things.

The 8pin power connection for the cpu is in place, I tried the paper clip test on the larger motherboard connector and it powered up a case fan, could the 8pin still be faulty. Do you test the other connection too?

I'll try resetting the cmos this evening, would this make a difference if its never been powered up before?

The only reason I thought psu is because everything else is new and it's been sat for around 3 years unused. Would a faulty hard drive cause any issues?
