State of Decay coming to PC(Steam)

^^ Handy trick! If you're absolutely stuck, quickly tab and swap (Q) to another character... Your character in trouble with then be saved! Obviously a cheat!

Never used it myself!

Lost my medic/mechanic last night on the way back from mission. :( Went to kill big fat zombie with some guy, thought I was on my soldier girl so wasn't too bothered about loosing her as I still have Maya and Marcus.

Anyone played the DLC? Is better just to play that or is the 'base' game still worth a play on it's own?

Not sure if it has been mentioned already but this mod is excellent if you found it a little easy - George Romero Mod

Lots of options to choose from, personally I chose slow/more zombies and you're as good as dead with one bite! Gun shots attract much further too so you really do have to think about it every time you enter a building etc.

how good is this game guys? I don't want cheese zombie game like Dead Rising, I want a balls out hard survivor experience like DayZ.

It is a very good game, and by far one of the best zombie games to come out recently. I wouldn't say it is that hard though. If you get to the trucking warehouse fairly early on in the game, you can repair 4 cars at once, which means you can just run over loads of zombies without using up all the cars.

Definitely not a cheese fest like Dead Rising. It is more akin to playing a Walking Dead style scenario.

hmm might have to check it out then.

The thing that has confused me, is the whole release scenario. Is it finished, has it been properly released or is it still in it's Alpha/Beta stage?

As far as I'm aware, it is fully released now, and never really was in Alpha on PC, as the full game was already on Xbox 360, so just needed porting.

Originally start playing on my gf's laptop (720p) awesomesauce.

Install it on main rig. lolwutno1440p?!?!? :(

So the story is short on this, so what happens when it goes to a full retail release, none of the beta/alpha testers will be playing it as you will all have finished it? or is this a full release now.

Seems most games stay in beta but are actually the full release! This would be fun with open world multiplayer game play.

Only just learned after several hours (across 2 sessions) that this game carries on 'playing' when you are not actually in game. Explains why it was totally different when I went back into it. Why is this not advertised as a feature on the store page? Pretty sure I wouldn't have bought it knowing that. What if I go away for 3 days, everyone dies of starvation??

Also my main char, marcus just got killed by some jumpy, crazy special zombie. Rage quit ensued. Should I just carry on or restart? Not really sure how this is meant to be played.

It is fully released. And there is a DLC (called Breakdown) that basically lets you play indefinitely to see how long you can survive.

Yes the game world is semi-persistent. I believe for the first day or two it carries on, and then slows down the longer you don't play it, to stop too much happening while you are away. Not sure why this would be a negative, as long as you leave your survivors with ample supplies.

I lost one of the two starting guys within about 2 hours of starting the game. It doesn't matter at all. You can play as anyone once you have earned their trust. That is the idea. There is no 'game over' when your character dies, you just move on to the next available one (assuming you haven't run out of survivors). Just make sure you play each available character evenly, so you level up each of their stats. Otherwise, when your regularly played character dies, you may be left with an entire group of weaklings.
