static and feedback sound when moving mouse

Plenty of scope for a ground loop then.

You'll have to go through a process of elimination - first step is to disconnect everything sound related from your PC and plug in the headset - that should tell you whether the problem is inside or outside the case.

If that gets rid of the noise then try removing any other inputs to your equaliser / amp except for the PC.

The cheapest and easiest way to deal with a simple ground loop if you can't use an optical connection is using an isolation transformer. Should cost no more than £10 for a decent one and you just connect it in-line with the cable that links your sound card to your speakers.

after your suggestion , I tried it and ended up realising I had to resort to only having sound through my telly for ps3/4. it did eliminate the feedback but the sound is average on my telly

I will have to try that, then if it works i'll have my speakers back for my ps3/4

Main thing is you now know the cause and adding an isolator to either the PC feed or the TV feed should cure it.

yeah, even the best on board is only as good as an entry level sound card and the SB Z is a very capable card.

job done, got my isolator and plugged it in just now, tested it on some games with my ps3/4 plugged into the equalizer.

all the feedback has gone and I can enjoy better sound for my consoles aswell as having the sound from my pc all in the same loop.
