Hi, I've just moved house and the internet seems to assign a static IP. I've not changed ISP and in my old house it was dynamic.

Is it possible to contact Sky to change it from dynamic to static or is that not possible?

From your desktop's command prompt you are only going to see an internal (NAT'd) IP address

Your external address (e.g. your Public IP) will be dynamic (as previously mentioned Sky don't offer Static IP addresses)

But to answer you question, most of time it's easier just to leave DHCP enabled on the PC (unless you've set up port forwarding etc..)

What OS are you running?

If it's windows 7:

You go to Control Panel --> Network & Sharing --> Change Adapter Settings

Right click on your network card and select properties

Select Internet Protocol Version 4 & Click properties

Ensure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected
