Far Cry 2
Borderlands
Riddick
Mirror's Edge
Grid

Damn you steal deals

Not entirely it isn't. After 4pm Virgin enforce a download limit on your connection, if you exceed that they heavily limit your connection. For example our 10mbit connection, once the download limit has been exceeded for that evening (2gig iirc) they limit the connection to 2mbit.

Yes I know about that, be he said he gets throttled at 6PM. So unless he downloads to his limit everynight at spot on 6PM, then what he is talking about is different from what you are talking about. You are not supposed to be limited in speed at the same time every day unless you break the download limit every day at the same time.

Just noticed Riddick has "3rd-party DRM: TAGES™ 3 machine activation limit " Ugh, i hate that stuff, especially on top of the DRM that is Steam, i don't want any malware like DRM on my pc that calls home and stuff, anyone know much about this TAGES system? :(

Getting 2MB/s using the TCPView trick, was getting 20kb/s on the first content server.

So far, Lucidity gifted to the GF, Mirrors Edge for myself.

There should be a "Replay" day after the offers. Basically offering all the offers again for one day. Think about it, if people know it's coming it will give them a chance to spend more money on games they missed out on and have no intention of buying unless they come down in price.

It isn't a charity. A major plus of doing deals like this, is that a large quantity of people that missed some of the deals will be really annoyed, so annoyed they will buy the game at full price.

I know it's not a charity. They are not giving the games away... it's a sale.
A large quanitity? Really? I'm not buying any of the games I missed out on. I know people on Steam who were hoping for a Valve pack of some sort on offer so didn't buy L4D. They missed it and will wait again.

Just like people missed the TF2 offer on Halloween. Then the next day Valve did it again... and again. They also released the stats from one of their sales and they made a massive profit.

but then why not make it a week? or a month? or a year? As with every sale you can always say they should make it longer.

Am i setting something wrong or is Riddick a horrible looking game, the textures are so low res its awful.. i have maxxed all the settings i can find but it just looks bad...

Because with sales they normally go longer than a day. If I go to a entertainment store tomorrow I can see what's on sale and normally on the sale pricing ticket it will tell me how long it will be at that price. I can go home. Think about it. Come in again another day and buy it. Knowing it goes back up in price. With Steam, we wait, we see, we think oh something better will come along and miss out.

I'm not saying their business model is wrong. Just I don't see stores doing a one day sale on a small number of products. Valve are **** teases lol.

"Here's what's on offer for this price... but maybe tomorrow something will be on offer at an even better price? Your move!"

and I'm like... "AHHHH I want it but I might need to save the cash for tomorrows offer... NOOOOO"

I'm not really sure about this whole 'holding out' thing, most of the sales-raiding that goes on is impulse-buying anyway. It's not like I'm saying "OK, that game looks decent value, but maybe something better will come along tomorrow" - if I think the offer is worthwhile, I'll buy it, and if a better offer comes along tomorrow, I'll buy that too.

I appreciate that there may be a small minority who are so short on funds that they can only afford to buy one or two of these games, even at discount prices, but to be honest if they are that hard up I'd question whether they should even be buying the games at all.

Evil Genuis and Monkey Island bought! Thinking about Riddick too, quite liked the original and that's included as well.

Maybe we should ban poor people from any form of paid entertainment?

I'm sure you didn't mean to sound as condescending as your post sounds because we all know that people both poor, rich and lunchtime millionaires can spend their cash on whatever they want and it's not for anyone else to question, worry about or make it their business (unless they're owed money by the person :p )
