Hi there,

I didn't want to start another thread really but no-one has answered in my other thread about this problem.

Basicly i'm going to be fitting a new mobo and then doing a format in the next 2 days & i'm just wondering if steam is going to kick up a fuss and not allow me to download my games again due to the new OS and mobo...

If anyone can shed some light on this it would be great.

Cheers in advance, Doug.

There wont be any problem ... can you not just back up your files and then transfer them saving you all the d/loads again ? I did this only last week ... changed from one computer to another and different versions of windows ie. XP Pro to Vista Ultimate 32bit without a hitch.

Don't mind d/ling them again (like watching them come down at 1.5MB/S:D) just wanted to make sure that Steam will allow me to download them again to a new O/S and differnet hardware;)

Yup you'll be fine. Had my steam account for years and I've done a number of reinstalls and hardware replacements in that time.

Steam detects it and just asks for you to resend your hardware specs in a survey thingy

One of the main selling points of Steam is that it can be used on any PC anywhere in the world that is connected to the net and capable of playing the games, which is why there was such a furore raised over the frankly ridiculous limitations imposed by certain games even when bought via steam, yes Bioshock, I'm looking at you.
