Steam + Avast...

I had the same issue, it was moving the Steamservices.exe to the virus chest so I added the entire Steam Directory to the Allowed Programs, then went to the virus chest, restored the Steamservices.exe and all is fine.

I have used avast for years and not had a problem.

I have always used the free one, apart from my WHS which i had to buy it for.

However i wouldn't have bought it if there was a free AV for WHS V1

The occasional false positive is a price worth paying for what is the best free antivius.

Doesn't excuse it, they really shouldn't happen for popular programs. You'd think they would have multiple testbeds with the most used applications installed.

Heck, not so long ago, Eset quarantined some a Windows file :D

I'm having a problem thats just cropped up that my avast free anitivirus thinks steam is malware and won't let me run it.

Anyone else running avast and having this problem?

Odd.

I was getting this a few days ago. I left it a few days (I'm not a big Steam user) then updated Avast (program and Definitions) and now Steams works fine.
