Steam code question

If I already have a game in my Steam library and I activate a key for the same game would it let me? I'm thinking in terms of being able to gift it to another user.

I'm fairly sure you'll get an error message saying that you already own that game. I'm not sure I'd want to try it though

Probably better off just giving that person your code.

go to your gift page in STEAM you can gift the items from there.

As French said you get the "already own that game" qoute if you try to activate the key.

If you have a steam code, the only way to gift it to someone, is to actually give them the code, via email or messenger, and let them add it to steam themselves.
