Are steam codes reusable? For example if I wanted to give a game to a friend? Also not gaming any more so no problem closing my steam account if it helps.

No they can only be used once, if you are not gaming any more I guess you could give him your steam account and remove your payment details.

That's for gifting games and trading in-game items. But you can only gift/trade stuff if it hasn't been activated on your account.

So once items are added to your account they can't be removed? Doesn't sound right.

It's the way it's worked since 2004.

Sadly, that is the current situation. Although recent EU court rulings suggest it may have to change sooner rather than later.

If you buy a game on steam, you can add it as a gift so you can trade it later.
If you get a code from elsewhere, and add it, you dont have that option.

This. You can change the password/registered email address so it's no big deal. My Mrs has an old friends account he never uses anymore. Just added to that.
