Steam Down?

Said it was having network issues now it says failed to connect to Steam Servers

Nuts, just completed downloading Sniper Elite 3 but it won't install. Does it need Steam to be up?

Seems to be ok for me. I just finished playing Dying Light and now pre-loading Evolve. Just started playing Borderlands The pre sequel.

It is normally always ok if you are already logged in when it goes down, must always be the login server..

I've found with most systems, the external web dispatchers/login services are the most prone to failure. Steam could use an upgrade though!
