I've always had this suspicision that games disappear from my account on Steam.

Over the last 2 month I've been monitoring my games list, and as of 2 days ago, I dropped from 435 to 432.

I've just E-mailed Steam to find out why, has anyone else had the same? I don't buy from CJS anymore (I bought from there only a few times, and that was a while ago, from then on it's been amazon/GMG/Gamefly/Steam)

Anyone else monitored theirs?

Sometimes they give you 72 hours to try a game and add it to your account. Once the time is up it disappears. O imagine that is what you experienced.

That's not this.
I keep track of it daily, so when it goes up, I note why, be that buying a game or not.

I used to put it down to the free weekends, but this isn't that.

Also, if it had been the weekend, when I checked my list and tallied it Monday it'd have been 432.

435 - 02/07/2014
435 - 03/07/2014
435 - 04/07/2014
435 - 05/07/2014
435 - 06/07/2014
435 - 07/07/2014
435 - 08/07/2014
432 - 09/07/2014

If you have 400+ games and can't work out what is missing I wouldn't worry...

That's not the point at all though?
I monitor my games list (As in the numbers) because I had a suspicion they were randomly disappearing (Of course because of the free weekends, since I had no measurement, I didn't know what my accurate number was etc, so since I've started, I have a reliable line of what it should be), and it seems games really do go walkies.

The evidence is clear. The only possible explanation is that Valve, a reputable company with a pretty good track record for consumer relations, has decided in their wisdom to arbitrarily deny you access to your hard-earned games.

That or it could be another more plausible story.

guessing this is a bit of a stupid question given the number on the list, but any idea which 3 have gone missing?

can't say i've experienced it myself, but then everything on my steam list is from steam [or activated through steam]

edit: post #2 both ninja'd me and provided a solid theory, well done lol

Well that's why I've asked them? I'm more intrigued if it's happened to anyone else, rather than point fingers. For all I know it could be something like Wallace And Grommet becoming 1 game rather than X (It's not, I've looked, same as back to the future :()
But Valve's CS relations are far from pretty good. I've heard some nightmare stories with accounts getting banned from Paypal mess ups. Examples on this very forum in fact.

Haven't the foggiest. I've checked games that were bought via CJS.
And it's not games from "Free Weekends" as I check, I'm not that stupid :p

It's 99.999999% this.

But really... 432 games?

How can it be this when I've monitored my games list for well over a month now? So, if I check my games list and one day it's raised 2, I'll look to see why (Be it the free weekend, I note it down)

There was once a case where even with the free weekend game, the figure went 1 higher than it was meant to, and then when the weekend left, it was still there, a day later it went back to what it should be.

One example (When I started) ;

418 - 13/05/2014
418 - 14/05/2014
420 - 15/05/2014 (Steam Weekend Free Games, Should Be 418)
420 - 16/05/2014 (Steam Weekend Free Games, Should Be 418)
420 - 17/05/2014 (Steam Weekend Free Games, Should be 418)
420 - 18/05/2014 (Steam Weekend Free Games, Should be 418)
418 - 19/05/2014

That's the snippet when all's working as it should.

Here's the snippet when it went weird ;

428 - 03/06/2014 (Bought Mortal Kombat Complete)
431 - 04/06/2014 (Redeemed Dead Island : Epidemic, And Bought Sudeki should be 430?)
432 - 05/06/2014 (Free Weekend, should be 430/431)
432 - 06/06/2014 (Free Weekend, should be 430/431)
432 - 07/06/2014 (Free Weekend, should be 430/431)
432 - 08/06/2014 (Free Weekend, should be 430/431)
431 - 09/06/2014
430 - 10/06/2014

The 430 was what I thought it should have been, but the figures were 431 (Which disappeared a day after)

And this is now ;

431 - 21/06/2014 (Bought AC4 Black Flag)
431 - 22/06/2014
431 - 23/06/2014
432 - 24/06/2014 (Bought Space Hulk)
432 - 25/06/2014
432 - 26/06/2014
432 - 27/06/2014
433 - 28/06/2014 (Bought Baldurs Gate 2)
433 - 29/06/2014
435 - 30/06/2014 (Bought Kane and Lynch games)
435 - 01/07/2014
435 - 02/07/2014
435 - 03/07/2014
435 - 04/07/2014
435 - 05/07/2014
435 - 06/07/2014
435 - 07/07/2014
435 - 08/07/2014
432 - 09/07/2014 (What's going on?)

What free weekend games was there?

I had The Haunted: Hell's Reach disappear from my list before, something to do with the devs not supporting it anymore, it's back now :S but I wouldn't kid yourself into thinking that once a game is in your list it's there forever, pretty sure the conditions you sign up for; allow steam to do pretty much whatever they want with "your" games.

Yeah, I'm aware of the terms, I just want to know which games really. There's a few that probably have dropped support.

I find it funny people are so sceptical. I also take it very few people monitor their game count either :p

Go to Steam\common and Shift,Right Click to open a command window.

Type

Dir > list.txt

Exit

should have a nice text file called list with all folders.
using date names would probably be better to keep track like 100714.txt

Use that as a checklist.

I had 457, and I'm just updating to the latest Steam Beta and now I have 454, and my Mac entries of the GTA series are gone, so that must be what happened for Martin. I bet it was the GTA series as well! :p
