Steam games

Got to agree that Insurgency is a really good MOD, but you will end up dead very quickly at first.

Zombie Panic! has got to be my current favourite HL2 mod which is tiding me over until Left4Dead is released. Its always good for a laugh, some really tense moments.
 
The Zombie Panic update is really nice, the game feels so much better to play than the previous release.

Is anyone getting really bad download speeds off Steam lately? These are downloading at 50-100kb/s which is the same speeds I was getting with Crysis Warhead the other week. Always used to get in excess of 400kb/s in the past. It's not my connection as other things are able to max out the full 20mbit without problem.
 
Well I finally finished downloading it. As with the other zombie mod, humans are all about camping in little rooms and blocking the doors with glitchy movables. Zombies get no special abilities and can be outrun by humans if they hold few weapons. I read that camping humans show up as red to zombies? Well, it needs to be improved because the maps are so big, most of the time spent as a zombie is wandering around looking for people.

Gameplay is slow yet the balance swings very fast between who has the advantage due to dead humans joinging the zombie team.
In one of the games there were some objectives being announced like 'move to the lab', but i'm not sure why. The camping needs to be addressed because there is barely any incentive for the humans to move around.

First of all, shame on all you people for not having already played these mods before they got Steamwork'd.

Second of all, you seem to be judging ZPS on a handful of games and blaming it on the game for you not immediately knowing the maps inside out?

Get together with some mates on voice comms and it's a brilliant laugh with many different strategies for each map - hide and barricade yourselves in or find the good guns and go zombie hunting etc.

Although I suspect that the servers are full of whiney nubs at the moment. There was a good community aspect to the game for the last few months with servers having regular players with nearly everybody using voice, hopefully it'll go back to that after the hoardes of "OMG FREE GAEM!!!11!" players have got bored and gone back to TF2. :D
 
I played Zombie Panic before it came onto steam this week (lost it during a re-install of my OS). Decent little mod, and some nice ideas behind it, especially in the weapons and team balance of most maps.

I still prefer the in-server zombie mod on CSS though: the faster pace, more players, the odd humour and bizare maps just edge it for me.
 
Our Zombie Panic Source server is usually full in the evenings and is a good laugh :)

Ok, i've played zombie panic a bit more now.

'Last man standing' games are mostly camp-fests where suvivors find the highest point and barricade themselves in.
Objective is more interesting as the survivors actually have to move around the map.

Weapons always spawn in the same spot, but what you get varies (although not always it seems), which means the experienced players go straight to the weapons then straight for the objective. There isn't as much exploration as there should be imo.

I have started to learn some parts of the maps now and have a vague idea of where to go but it really does need a compass or something. Also, probably because of the new players, suvivors win a lot.
 
i thought someone had hacked my steam at first!! though mainly due to the fact hl2 and CS no longer load. I get an annoying C+ error. Ive tried re-installing Nvidia drivers and both games but still get the same issue. Might try re-installing direct X to see if that helps
