Steam is closing down their forums

I only ever look at the forums to help solve technical issues, so I wouldn't be that bothered.
It does seem like people jumping to conclusions though, the source doesn't actually state that they're closing them down.

The source is a volunteer moderator, so he won't actually know if it's moving, just something that seemed likely.

Ive never been in the steam forums.

Steam got installed with HL2 on release day, and other than using the shop i have never felt the need to do anything else with it.

see the demise of Steam..

Don't worry chicken little, the sky isn't falling.

I think it's fairly safe to say, most people aren't buying games on steam or using steam to go and engage with the mouth breathers that populate the majority of the steam forums.

I don't think anyone can realistically see the lack of forums in their current form affecting sales or community in any negative way, surely?

I use the forums to see how games are before buying them. Usually a quick look on the forums will tell me if something is a hidden gem or a buggy piece of ****. If there is any sort of problem is also a good source of information to find a fix.

This.
