steam is running in processes, but never appears

just put steam on my LAN box machine and its running in processes but never appears however long i leave it....apparently a known issue

anyone know how to sort it, tried the deleting blob, reinstalling etc

Start Steam then select 'View' 'Settings' and see if 'Run Steam when my computer starts' is ticked ?

Try shutting down the process and then relaunching with the .exe

This does happen to me too on occasion, and the above steps 1-2 solve it.

+1 for me too, can be a bit flaky at times but that always solves it for me

Which system are you using? Win 7? In that case on the right hand side of your task bar you have the 'Show hidden icons' button - press it and you'll see steam there. You can r-click it to launch games/exit it.

I presume this is with XP SP3?

There is a known bug at the moment, my mate had it and not exactly sure how he fixed it I'm afraid. All I know is it was working last night so might be a temporary thing?
