Steam issue - bought duplicate CSGO skin by accident

Yeah I know sad right... :o:D I got bored the other day (that's what 2 weeks off work does :o ) and decided to bung a few quid into my Steam account to nab some natty skins for CSGO.

It seemed the server was having issues because I tried to make a few purchases that didn't go through, and instead came back with a server error and confirmation that no purchase had been made. Annoying but whatever. Turns out the next day that one of them (for a grand total of £2.23) did go through as a duplicate. Well, more accurately I bought the skin once, got the message that it didn't go through so refreshed the page and bought another one. Turns out both went through.

I sent a complaint to Steam who have responded twice now basically washing their hands of it. If this was a credit card transaction I'd have flagged it as a duplicate and it would have been sorted, but because this was money I'd put into Steam I can't do that. I think it's really pants they won't take any responsibility, they basically say they can't do anything because it's a market transaction between two people, and that I should just re-sell it. Conveniently they'd make another amount of commission and I'd probably struggle to get my money back because the price of the skin is staying pretty solid at what it was.

Anyhoo, worth pursuing? :o
 
Oh skinny love.

Carry on talking to Steam. Tell them from Fubsy, that skins are for children and none of the old Valve fans likes them and that their Steam sales now suck. Cool.

Meh. The year average price was just going down, down and further down. I sold it already make, lost about 40p. I'll survive!

From the short amount of reading I've done on the matter it seems more likely to win the Euromillions than get a knife out of a case, no? Most people suggest you'd spend far more on case keys to get a skin you want compared to simply buying it. Not sure if that goes for knives though, that **** is crazy prices! :confused:

I reckon you're probably right about how difficult they are to get. Still, there's a small sense of enjoyment opening the occasional case. It takes me back to opening pokemon cards in my youth haha.

You know you can buy stickers for your skins too? ;):p

I find the whole thing hilarious but you know what I chucked a few quid on my Steam account for a laugh. I've not spent more than I would for lunch had I been working in the office through all this time. No biggy. There is something strangely addictive about it though, I just want a bright M4 skin and I'll call it quits :o
 
I know, I told myself to stop as it was too easy to just keep putting another 20 in my account. Stopped after spending like 60 and all i had to show for it was a decent awp skin and a few StatTraks. Now i just open the occasional case I get rewarded.
