Well, if you happen to find the right way to turn it off, please let us know !Well it doesn't work, so that wasn't it, came back today.
That doesn't mean the change is better. Very often people complain for good reason. The change is less functional, provides less information and takes up more space and takes up more resources to display. Its inferior in just about every way. Like a lot of people I really want the old one back as the new one is putting me off using Steam its that bad.People will always complain when something they are used to is changed. It was strange at first but functionality wise I don't find it any different now. (I've not tried any of the new features yet)
You will get used to it. I actually find it handy. Love this update. Would never go back

How do I revert to the old style?
Any way to get rid of the menu on the left, and that Whats New at the top ?, i just want my games displayed.
Yeah, thank god.
EDIT:
Found a way to get rid of the 'Whats New', right click them all, and remove, then it disappears, but i suspect, that when theres a new update, it'll just reappear.
Theres some Custom Images for your games for the new layout too now.
Edit this file:
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamui\css\libraryroot.css
Change this bit:
.libraryhome_WhatsNewContainer_gdZT7 {
position: relative; }
To this:
.libraryhome_WhatsNewContainer_gdZT7 {display:none!important; }
This will stay until steam updates the file (usually when the steam client updates itself), but it's rather easy to put in place again (just save the file somewhere, then copy pasta when needed)
