Steam library problem

Basically when I set the games to a category, it doesn't always 'stay put'. Sometimes, and not necessarily all the games I change, they go back to the category that I had it as before after maybe a few minutes or hours.

This has happened with both logging out and logging back in, and staying logged in.

At first I thought it wouldn't bother me, but now with more and more games it's getting really annoying.

At other times (if I put in a shortcut to a non-steam game) it does stay in the category I set it at, but sometimes it might create other shortcut to the game and put it in the default 'Games' category, so I have two shortcuts in my library.

Anyone experienced this and/or know of a fix?

I've found that exiting steam after setting a category is the best way to make them stick. That way it backs up the settings to the cloud.

I have had problems in the past though when I opened Steam on my netbook to find it still had the older settings which were then synced to my desktop. All my 175 neatly organised games became unorganised again :(

Steam also needs a better way to organise things as the current set-up is a pain.

Sorry but I have never felt the need to categorise my games on steam. A-Z does me fine.

I thought that for a long time. But then when you have 80+ games, it's a lot nicer to have to categorised.

Alright thanks. I'll give that a go next time.
Yeah, they need to allow for multiple game selecting to put into a category because doing one by one is so slow.
Also, having sub categories could be handy.

Maybe when you've only got a few dozen games. When you've got a few hundred it's a godsend.

@OP Not had the issue with categories, but used to get issues with non-steam shortcuts. That seemed to go away with an update though. Worth trying just reinstalling the client and forcing an update?

My god man, you have over 500 games! So I can maybe understand why you would want to :p
