Steam Link Alternative

A friend came round today and his official controller worked fine so I'm buying the bike and getting an official one.

Rdr2 runs okay on low settings which I can get used to.

I would still appreciate if anyone has any suggestions for the frequent black screen? Turning hardware encoding off doesn't work not does running steam.exe as an administrator.

I had that before with my AMD card. I found that if I kept the PC monitor on it would go away. I had turned it off to save power but for whatever reason it keep flicking to a black screen every few seconds.

By "official controller" do you mean the Steam controller? If so, that's going to be a steep learning curve!

Strange that you get poor performance on Rdr2, it should be identical to running directly on the PC (albeit with the potential for a bit of latency and some compression artifacts depending on your network)

Regarding the black screens, how long is the HDMI cable and have you tested with a different one?

I haven't tried another HDMI cable actually so I will do that.

I have noticed that the little blackouts seem to coincide with our newly purchased freezer making a noise! I have tried plugging it into other nearby power outlets but this doesn't solve it.

I'll also try leaving the computer monitor on.

If you are still streaming across homeplugs then that sounds like the freezer compressor kicking in is causing enough electrical interference on your home circuit to kill the connection momentarily :S

Could try some other homeplugs, but I have no idea if that would make a difference
