** Steam Midweek: Commandos Collection £4.99 ***

Great games.

I've got most of them on disk somewhere, but for £5, it's got to be worth it to save the hassle of trying to find the disks. :D

I remember playing the first game back when i was a lot younger and i enjoyed it (although as others have also mentioned i was rubbish at them but its probably due to age)

I might pick these up this evening at this price its hard not to.

Commandos 2 was amazing, the best game in the series. If I recall correctly, you can only play Commandos 3 in 800x600 max so it put me off buying it.

I love these games, but found them unplayable on Windows Vista 64bit (haven't tried them on W7) due to them running to quickly.

What a coincidence, I dug out my Commandos 2 cdroms last weekend but found disk 2 to be badly scratched. Gonna buy this tonight. Why can't they make more games like this? Who needs fps when you can have decent isometric games like Commandos 1 & 2.

Sheesh not played these for years, only ever had the demo versions. Do they still play well? I don't want to destroy my memory of them being fantastic games :o

Just ordered this now, hope they will play fine on my laptop
The first two games shouldn't be a problem but Commandos 3 required quite a nice system if I recall

Bah, they run fast, but apparently there's some free software available that will slow it down. I'll have a tinker tonight.

I have to say though, Commandos 2 looks surprisingly pretty, even today.

2 happens to be one of the best 2D isometric/audio masterpieces I have ever played. The music by Mateo Pascal is simply incredible as is the gameplay on one of the latter levels set in Paris. I love the game to bits and at this price it's hard to ignore.

Played the C3 a while after and the controls were so poor that I gave up very quickly :/

The only annoyance in this day and age is the fact that C2 runs at a max res of 1024x768 iirc. I can confirm that the retail version does work on Win7 x64. *goes to purchase the steam package*

Agree 100%. I wrote a review a few years ago for C2 stating it as the best graphical 2D titles ever along with the best audio score. I still agree with that completely.

I loved distracting and then stabbing the guards :D

Just a warning Kainz, even C2 runs a little fast on modern computers. I'm investigating free 3rd party apps that slow down the game and am currently having some promising results. I've only had 10 mins to experiment, i'll post back when i'm happy with the results, what i used and how i set it up (assuming someone else doesn't beat me to it).

I'd be interested in this, but looking at some of these posts, I'm running win7 x64, so there are a couple of issues which will probably affect me.
Also, any idea if these can run in windowed mode without issues?

They were one of the first games i played when i bought my first "gaming" pc back in '99.

Amazing games for that price. Bought!

Any update on this?

I started the first Commandos and it is running too fast :(
