Steam question

I would post this on the Steam board but probably get a better response here...

Just a quickie - I have some games that have been bought retail from a shop. These are also available on Steam. Is it possible to "add" these to my Steam profile so that, should the worst happen, I can download them through Steam again if I want to ??

99% of retail games can't be added to steam. The only retail I know of which can be is Unreal Tournament 3.

Personally I will only ever buy/add Valve games to Steam (and possbily exclusives like MW2 if it becomes mega cheap), as any other publisher could pull their games from it if they really wanted. Valve have more of an investment in it.

Sweet i was looking for an answer to this aswell. Shame you cant add more games, I mean I have many games available on steam i just cant add them ><

I suppose they have to have a special deal with the publishers/developers or something. Essentially your giving Steam the burden of providing the download for you when you didn't pay them for the game and also the problems that could arrise with then selling the game as second hand.
