Steam saved game location

As title, I want to wipe my PC but I want to keep my Vice City saved game. Where is it saved at?

I haven't got this game through steam myself, but third party games are usually stored in '*Steam directory*\steamapps\common'. Check that folder to see if there's a Vice City folder and then if there's a savegames folder within that.

If not there then it's also worth checking your documents folder for a folder called 'GTA Vice City' or 'My Games\GTA Vice City'.

Any game that isn't created by Valve will save files in the same place as the retail edition

So I copied my saved game and pasted it onto my new install. It appears to be there but when I go to load it up it just stays on a black screen. Anyone any ideas how to fix this?

This problem actually happened before the reinstall where it would be a black screen for awhile until it loaded but it would actually eventually load.

Try starting the game without any save file so it'll create a default one and overwrite it with your old one?

Ok so I fixed the problem and managed to get onto my saved game but now when I open up the game again I'm getting the same problem.. just a black screen that never changes. Ideas anyone?
