Tried to play with my mates online twice tonight and both times we've had to stop playing because steam has decided to collapse and stop working. No announcements on the forum, nothing, it just fails to connect

However handy steam is, having multiplayer games use it is a shocking idea, it spends more time down than working!

Theres been a few major network outages in the UK today which may be related.

I've seen maybe 3-4 days in the last 6 months when steam has had any real issues but its annoying when it does happen.

You only get problems with Steam when AAA titles are released and everyone is hammering the servers for downloads and unlocking. Or when Valve release new and free stuff and again the servers take a pasting

Otherwise it's pretty bullet proof nowadays.

I think it's so good I am re-buying games on Steam thatI have previously owned retail versions off. So I've snapped up Borderlands in the sale today.

my steam went down earlier while i was playing company of heroes, that was relic servers though so i was uneffected, however steam is hardley ever down, what a baseless and stupid comment

it was horrible at the start (mostly because of server issues and the fact internet was very slow :p)

Indeed! It just irks me that people are so set in their ways, I was installing Napoleon Total War faster by downloading it from steam than the disk could be read..

3 of us played MW2 tonight for the lolz as we hadn't played it for months.... Steam decided to flop out for all of us after about 1h.....

probably a good thing... im crap at that game now very crap....

It is one of those games you have to keep your "eye" in... I just pulled off a bunch of high KDR games 19-1, 22-2, etc. and now can't join a game without someone going "oh theres that cheater" and booting me if they are using MW2SA.

i've had steam freeze up a few times tonight, maybe around 9.30/10ish, so don't know if that coincided with your issues... but anyway, i find the updates cause it to wig out, which is understandable.

logically, a platform for millions of clients in bound to have the odd day off, deal with it ffs
