Hi,

Can anyone help, I can't play any of my steam games even the offline ones...

it keeps saying steam servers are busy please try again in a few minutes

cheers Ferret

If this is the problem i think it is then the game will play for a few min then kick you with the error msg, if it is just restart steam.

yeh got that myself last nite trying to pay TF2, left it for 5mins then was ok. does anyone think steam friends is going down more than usual atm as well?

I was having this problem (steam servers are busy please try again in a few minutes)on sunday when i tryed to play Halflife 2: Episode 2

Comes to something when you can't even load a single player game because there servers are too busy....

Quick Hijack,
Im at uni and my HL2 disk is at home, can I download the games straight through steam, ie does it remember that I own the game and let me dl a digital copy?

Yes you can as long as you remember your Steam details.

I got some weird vac error when i was online earlier which disconnected me, havn't tried going back on since.

I keep getting the Engine Error that's part of the "Ongoing Issues".

Less than impressed with Valve/Steam at the moment.

i keep getting pre-load complete

Both of these can be solved by logging out then back in.

having major probs with the friends app at the moment, can't seem to add anyone. games loading up ok tho

Same here. Seems to be a lot of maintenance. My friends goes down probably twice an hour. I just wait for it to come back up. If people want to talk to me then that's their problem. ;)

Let me just say that having purchased the Orange Box and played Half Life I firmly believe that this is an excellent game and well worth the awards heaped on it.

However,

Steam has to be the greatest pile of steaming nitrogenous compound I've ever had the misfortune of inflicting upon my computer.

For example, why is it necessary to update my games which have just been installed before I can play them, (As I type this I'm waiting for episode two to finish updating, 35% and counting)

This isn't helped by the fact that I have to connect to the internet to install the damnable things in the first place.

I'm fairly certain the reason for me buying the box version and not simply downloading it was because the internet oozes to me via a ridiculously slow ISDN line. Obviously it never occurred to anyone at valve that some people may not yet have broadband.

Anyway, rant aside, Steam is just another hoop us honest people have to jump through in order to play a game we have paid for rather than just getting a cracked version for no money nor hassle.

Steam is constantly throwing a 'connection error' back at me
It just wont connect at all, any ideas what's going on or what I should check?
