Steam streaming? Anyone use it?

That doesn't have any Ram, HDD or OS but would be fine, although something lower spec would also work as well.

I ended up building my own box based on the MSI J1800I, cost about £150 all in but I did already have a spare 60GB SSD to put in it. Getting it set up proved a pain though, but not through any fault of the software/hardware, it was my Marantz SR7005 that caused the headache because the front HDMI port is gimped in some way. Plugged into a rear port, it is fine. All running on Ubunto 14.04, so it saved the cost of an OS. I don't like the OS, but it's free and it works.

Over my wired network, I get between 5 and 15ms latency, which is negligible as far as input is concerned. Dirt2 and Grid Autosport are absolutely spot on. As a result, I can now get my PC games running through my home theatre setup, without having a huge box in the living room.

Been using it a couple of times. It's not bad but still needs a lot of work. The speed, even on a 1Gb network, isn't that great and on some games it's like playing in slow-mo.

It's a good concept though and hopefully they'll improve it.

Still can't figure out why the ui is so small.
Set desktop to 720p same as laptop resolution, set steam to 720p streaming and the UI is still small.

Anyone had this issue?

Also new build and I can't get the sound working on desktop which means steam doesn't stream sound. I can't figure out why though. Windows has drivers and it says theres no issue. Plug headphone/speakers in and windows doesn't detect them.

I tried this once on my girlfriend's MacBook Pro. The Intel HD4000 is more than enough and can do hardware decoding for better performance too. My setup is such that I can use an X360 pad connected to my PC as the receiver is close enough to where I sit in the other room for it to still be in range.

It worked good for the most part at max streaming quality (+ 1080p) with The Evil Within. I had a bit of network lag before I plugged a cable into the laptop, but after I did it was fine. My router is only 100Mbit, too, so I could probably get more performance with a Gbit switch and some Cat5e/6.

I had no controller lag because, as I mentioned, I was using it from the PC.

I use this occasionally for my htpc downstairs. My next project is to try and stream a game in 4k 3d (SBS) to my new tv. I suspect the network bandwidth may be an issue, thanks to sky's non-gigabit router, but we'll see. Would be nice to try tomb raider in 4k 3d.

Otherwise it's just for games that need a better gpu/cpu than my htpc. Good for adventure games where it's mainly exploring pretty landscapes.
