Steam UI Update

CTD on starting up, just after login when the main screen pops up, the main screen stays there for 1 second and then crashes, can't even revert to the stock steam now :(.

Also, in the old steam, just before I tried the beta, my friends were still gone.

EDIT:

Restarted for the 3rd time, now it says: ''Fatal Error: Failed to load platform modules''.
EDIT2:
4th attempt at starting steam, CTD just when the main window shows up, just as before :(.

I want access to my games .
Oh well, hopefully it'll be fixed tomorrow :).

Add -clearbeta to the Steam shortcut.

steam just autoupdated and now i cant connect to servers in mw2, it just freezes on the load screen and tells me "cannot connect to server" or "game lobby closed".

From the steam forums if community/store is not working:
Steam forums said:
The problem is caused by a setting in Internet Explorer's connection settings. Under "LAN Settings" in the Internet Options, if the box "Automatically detect settings" is checked, the Steam browser will not function. Once the box is unchecked, and Steam restarted (note I do not use a proxy) the browser works properly. So to fix the problem, open IE, go to Tools -> Internet Options ->Connections -> LAN Settings, and uncheck "Automatically detect settings," then close and re-open Steam.

Worked for me :D

hmm, loving the new layout and the much more responsive system, plus thank the great cheesecake that they dumped the IE render engine in favour of what I think is webkit, much faster.

Grid view icons look great! Except when there is no proper icon or if it using a non steam game shortcut:

The Steam Community looks a little out of place. Everything got a fancy new make-over and the Community is the same as before :D

I love Steam, but I think I'll wait before trying out the beta :)

The whole thing has been ccrying out for a "who plays what" kind of interface for a while - the amount of times I've looked at my Friends list and thought "who did I invite for what game" has gone through my mind is unreal. Plus being able to see what has been played recently will make it so much easier. Actually, after typing all that, I'm on the verge of signing up to the beta so that I can help make sure it works right :D

Erm... it's running much slower than the old one. Like it's all laggy and that. I like that the download bit now has a time remaining thingy. And the new layout is really good.
