If anyone else wants to set a steam drive icon, download these and put them in the root of your Steam hard drive.

autorun.inf
steam.ico

You can set them as hidden files.

Need to reboot for it to take effect

You sir are awesome :)

Thank you very much!

I think one day Origin might be viable, but it'll never beat Steam purely because people love Valve and loathe EA.

at end of day if origin does better deals regardless of hate people would still buy there games over steam. money talks.

imagine next bf or whatever is out steam does it for 35 quid origin does it 30 quid . are you really going to go with steam or the majority ? = no they just want the game at the best price.

ea /origin have the money to do this if they wanted . so yes origin could take down steam if they wanted do you think they got into this with out thinking this in first place? there goal will to be number one .

Not necessarily, Origin will never be superior to Steam for the community side, and people want all their games in one place with a beautiful hub attached to it, which Steam is. Origin will also never be cheaper than Steam, EA would never ever consider doing that.

finally figured it out. If your PC shutsdown really quick it does not give enough time for Steam to sync to the cloud so it tries to force a shutdown.

Answer, turn off steam sync to the cloud.

Probably a Valve blame MS and MS say nowt to do with us so never gets looked at for a proper resolution.

Thanks for this. It's always annoyed me that Steam prevents my machine from shutting down.

I'm quite surprised they do this when Steam exits. Why not get it to cloud sync when exiting the game? Ah well.

Games sync when they close already I'm pretty sure, DOTA2 takes flippin ages to do this when it shuts down and shows the yellow "syncing" sometimes. At a guess it's syncing your client settings.

I can honestly say I would still buy it on Steam if it was 5 quid more. Valve are a company I'm happy to give money to - EA are absolutely not! Might make an interesting poll actually!

I don't want a bunch of game store portals that I have to remember to start up. Got a couple of things on Origin, that I keep forgetting I have because not interested in firing their client into full screen to browse the 3 games on it.

Valve have already won this battle, MS dropped the ball on Live and Origin is about 5 years late to the party.

Just put your games on Steam already.

Game hubs is a fairly nifty yet glaringly obvious idea, I was using the war of the roses hub to get myself excited for the release :D

Anyone else experiencing lock ups? Ever since I downloaded an update for hitman absolution just switching to and from steam it sometimes locks up for a bout 5 secs then works as normal.. its annoying

Added better offline controller support. Controller Configurations and Pesonalization will now download for offline use after the first online game launch. When returning to online mode, the previous online configuration will be restored, but your saved local edits will be available for selection

Added Controller Config Preview. When importing a configuration, it will now be previewed first and then it can be accepted or backed out without applying the configuration. While previewing a configuration, all its settings can be viewed, but not changed

Added Steam Controller Configuration Links. When browsing configurations, a link can now be copied to the clipboard by pressing the Start button or Control+C. Following this Steam link will how the configuration and it can be optionally applied to the game it corresponds to. This link can be opened via a browser or at the commandline. From the command line, use "start [link]" in Windows, "open [link]" in OSX, and "xdg-open [link]" in SteamOS/Linux. Note that a controller must be active to apply a configuration. Links will be shown in the controller type they were created for, but will be converted to the controller type they are being applied to on application

  • Changed configuration sorting to use a rolling 30-day window. The most popular configurations over the past 30 days are sorted to the top.

  • Increased desktop capture to 60 FPS on Windows 8 and newer
  • Added an option to change desktop resolution to match the streaming client under advanced host settings
  • Added a separate option to enable NVIDIA ShadowPlay capture under advanced host settings
  • Added a recovery path if your graphics driver crashes or resets during streaming. Graphics driver resets may still crash your game anyway. If you experience frequent crashes, we recommend that you disable hardware encoding.

Steam VR
  • Fixed green screen when capturing a multiple-monitor desktop with NVIDIA ShadowPlay capture in VR

Out of all that lot, the ONE thing which caught my eye was this:

Added a setting to disable group event and announcement notifications

Anyone with a lot of group memberships will understand how annoying this has been.

I have NO IDEA why it has taken soo long to add this feature, sometimes the spam can be too much :D

Seems like it is a "universal" feature for ALL groups which is a shame but a step in the right direction. Would be nice to be able to chose which groups to receive notifications from.

I have strange behaviour with this update - when closed (but still running) and I switch focus to a new monitor and then back to the desktop Steam restores the window to the desktop! 100% of the time.
