Steam Weekend Deal: Arma 2 @ £12.49

Oh god, i've been sitting playing this since i got it at 11pm last night.

multiplayer is AMAZING!

Now i must sleep

I have not confirmed it myself , but yes others say it does

There are 2 resolutions in video options , the display res and the rendering res
Make them both the same for less blur effects

I also switch off head bob (it makes me boke)

Search the multiplayer lists and put filter of gol in
Its the clan I play with we have awesome fun with up to 70 players online
all working together.

What did you honestly expect for a game catered to fans of the previous games and mil-sim like gameplay.
 
I still remember being on the ocuk server, me and 2 others got heli'd to some remote place where there was an insurgent that needed taking out, we got out, ran up the the buildings search low, then someone ran up a tower, he was on top, 1 team meber got slaugtered, but before his eyes closed and he died he messeged us where he was, we ran up and slaughtered the insurgent. Seriously the best team play moment i've ever had. We then called for chopper to pick us up and within 5 minutes the chopper came driven by another fellow ocuk and took us to the main town where the main action was happening. Seriously PRO! I am tempted to buy this again just to have the ease of having it on steam....hmmm....
 
well i played the demo, but got bored wiht sorting out the controls etc.. need a combination of wheel, joystick and keyboard.

but for £12.50 its dlding now. im quite excited by this, seem to spend hours in the original operation flashpoint in the heli, drop the huey down anywhere after many many hour of practice!

Rotf. When the OcUK server was up I used to play from 8am till 7am some days non-stop... :p was good laugh though
 
Bearing in mind that I really didn't like Operation Flashpoint 1, will I like this? I generally like most FPS games

Sorry Bledd, if you didn't like OFP then you will not like Arma 2. However, if the mission editor is as intuitive as OFP and Arma, then you can easily create a massive infantry V infantry town battle and play it like a realisitc fps. The AI is good enough to make each replay different from the last.

I'm currently working on a series of missions based on Generation Kill TV series. - "Recon, we are Oscar Mike" - ***!!

So, can anyone give me a brief overview of what the game is like?

I've seen mention of Operation flashpoint 1 (loved it) and OPF2 (hated it).
 
Was going to buy it as it seems a bargain price... so I download the demo and went onto multiplayer. I am like wow graphics look really good but then after about 45mins I realised I was not having fun at all, it was like a chore to play :(

Now that saved £12 can go towards a game I will really will play like l4d or borderlands...hell if 1943 would hurry up it would have payed for that outright :p

Moral of the story if you are on a budget then try before you buy :)

Its like OFP1 only better , its written by the same people who did OFP1

The graphics engine is pretty good , but heavy on your system , it supports
and uses multi core cpu's , look on youtube for arma2 vids and see what you think.

Personnaly I love the game , it feels a little clunky to the twitch fps retards
but its supposed to be simulator , so like in real life you cant do a 360deg turn
in 1 nano second.
 
Been looking at some of the epic battles on youtube for this looks good, might have to get this to see.
