Wayhey! £6 for episodes 1+2, lost coast, portal and TF 2... and I can give away the copy of HL2.

Probably the best bargain I've ever gotten.
 
Yup ordered too, now to get unlimited broadband for next month so I can download these things without staying up late to start downloading.
 
Ok, so I had a look at TF2. What the hell is that all about? I have no idea what's going on or what to do.

Is it just an online shooter?

If someone could explain some of the basics, I'd be grateful. Alternatively I could just smash my monitor, I get angry when I have no idea what to do in a game.

Online team based game.

You select a class you wanna play as (pyro is fun start)..

then basically, if your red.. kill blue.. vise versa.. but different maps have a goal. capture the flag or pushing a bomb thing along rails to the enemy points.

been a while since ive played but thats the basic gist

dying doesnt matter. cos you respawn, so just rush about for some frantic fun :D

Thanks for that.

The maps seem budget though. So do you get better weapons as you go along then?

Easiest way is probably to open Steam on his computer, right click the games you're going to buy and 'backup local content'. This'll compress each game into a handy dandy exe file for easy installation.
Otherwise, you need to go to program files/steam/steamapps and look through the files there for things that look like you'll need them. Things with Half Life 2, source, portal or TF2 in the names, really.

Worked fine with TF2; many thanks.

Unfortunately my laptop idles at 65, plays at 80+ and is crashing and creating artefacts during play. :( Need to sort this out quick.

bluudy good bargain, this!! i snapped it up as soon as i saw it, thanks to ocuk! :D

it's one of those things that i always wanted to buy, but never seem to have gotton around to it. no excuse now! ;)

can't wait to try portal.. its supposed to be the mutts nutts.
