Steam won't start

My steam won't start it says logging in then it goes down and nothing happens. :confused:

Have tried deleting the ClientRegistry and all dll files but that didn't work I recently moved it to a new HDD but it started fine before.

check it's exited properly.

open task manager and go to processes check it's not still listed.

otherwise old faithful, turn the pc off and on again.

Did you recently move any files over to another hdd or something, if you did what did you use?

Yes I moved the games and I used windows to move them.

Its turned off in processes will try the classic trick.

restarted PC?

I had it the other day, I closed it down, went to reload it and nothing. reset fixed it.

TBH I wouldn't use windows to move over steam I would use game save manager.

Yes I moved steamapps folder to desktop uninstalled steam, Installed new steam on my new HDD then moved Steamapps folder into it and launched it and it worked fine.

Why Windows works just fine nothing wrong with the old copy and paste.

It's your decision but for now lets work on finding a fix, try re-re-install steam

Yes but you can run it as administrator from there

I uninstalled it there is not a steam folder there.

Ok all my games are gone then can't play any games because theres nothing I can do. :rolleyes:

Click Steam it opens asks for my password enter it, it says logging in please wait or what ever it says then it just closes.

Do you have the old installation on the old Hard disk to try?

If not, try uninstalling, completely blatting all the Steam/Valve registry entries, then re-installing.

You wouldn't, Anuraj is confusing what you're trying to do with something else (split drive copying). You can't use GSM for what you're trying to achieve.

Such a hassle copying all these games over took 3 hours the last time. :eek:
