Yup, me too. Are Virgin and Steam at war or something? lol
We get the crappy download speeds too :P So much for "superfast optical broadband" >_>

Thing is other than Steam I really like Virgin! There's always gotta be something eh...

Same problem here and I'm also on Virgin. Store only loads maybe 1 time in 4, takes ages to do so and often has missing graphics, community pages take 30+ seconds to load or just fail completely. My internet is fine everywhere else.

Steam downloads aren't affected, must be separate servers. Just tried switching from London to Ireland, no difference.

http://steamcommunity.com/ is basically broken. Using Virgins DNS or Googles makes no difference. Using the steam browser succeeds more often than real browsers strangely. Using IE/Chrome to try and browse the Community stuff is a waste of time.

 etc.

Forums from US providers and Steam confirm that it's not a Virgin only issue but there is a fault in the chain. It seems like Virgin is blocking/filtering http://steamcommunity.com or perhaps all the steam urls now require https but it's not set up correctly?

Something is screwed and it's not just the community stuff being slow like it always has been. It's far worse and started around the time Mrs. Seabiscuit posted.

Seems somebody fixed something somewhere. Community has been running OK on browsers and the Steam client since yesterday. The route hasn't changed so probably had no influence on the problem.

Funnily enough, steamcommunityc.om (an accidental typo) works perfectly fine:

C:\Windows\system32>ping steamcommunityc.om

Pinging steamcommunity.com doesn't work, although the website loads just fine in the browser:
