Hi,

As it has been cold recently all my windows have been frozen but when I walk past other peoples cars on the way to work you can allways see through all the windows and mine its just covered up. On the outside its not bad as I can get rid of that but inside the car is worse every morning or evening Im having to wipe my windscreen. Just wondering if there is something possibly wrong with my car or am I just been paranoid.

oh and its a 1.8 Focus zetec 02 5dr

thanks

If the condensation is on the inside, odds are your car has some damp in it somewhere. That doesn't instantly mean that your car leaks, it could have just been something wet you put in the boot has made the carpet damp and never fully dried.

I dont have anything in there thats wet, I have had the scuttle top replaced and fully secured down, and no wet passenger footwell.

indeedy - try going for a drive in shorts and a t-shirt, wack the heating on full and blast it at your feet. Keep the windows open a jar at the top to let the (hopefully damp) air out and you should dry out the cabin in a short while :)

Aircon also works wonders as its effectivly very dry air, doesn't the focus come with a heated screen?

I don't mean you have something wet in there now, that would be obvious. But for example, I had a dog in the boot of my car a few weeks back, and the towel he was sat on remained in the boot for a few days afterwards. Needless to say the carpet was slightly damp, and the condensation of the rear windscreen was evidence of this. Took the carpet out for a night left in the airing cupboard, and since then, no such issue with condensation.

Yeah but my front doesn't work. going into ford garage week tomorrow. Could this also be a sign that my pollen filter needs replacing?

Make sure you have the slider set to let air into the car and not just re-circulate. That's the most common reason why windows steam up.

In Golfs, steamed up windows is usually due to a poor pollen filter, this may be similar in the focus, so replace it and see if it helps.

Was about to suggest checking the pollen filter too.

Seems like it could well be a factor in your steamy windows issues.

My BMW will mist its windows up fully (from clear) when I start the car with the A/C on (despite new pollen filters & re-gas) after about 3 mins, the windows clear fine.

Any ideas?

Cold Car + Warm Body = Mist on windows.

My car does this in hot or cold weather, it makes no odds it seems.

yeh, guan have fun getting that water out, lol

Get a plastic tub (marg, ice cream) and fill it with silica gel or the other more modern availible equivilents
Pair of tights - cut a leg off and put it over the tub and tie at both ends
Place at front of the car

Job done :)

Works a treat!

I thought it was the other way about? When I push the windscreen clear button on my climate control, it recirculates the air.
