SteamOS just vapor???

Cs go and Empire total wat both work I'm all good :) As for drivers I got rid of my 280xt for a 750ti gives same performance.

I've moved full to Linux (Again) and am quite happy with the recent level of support its getting from valve etc

Thats similar to my Zalman HD501 Media PC.

Funkily enough, I did plonk steamOS onto it as a trial a short while ago, when I downloaded the Steam OS ISO's, but I only did it to have a play about more than anything serious.

And then of course there's the fact I run AMD, so I'm buggered when a title does have Linux support lol.

It's not intended to replace a full OS, it's supposed to be dual booted or an option for HTPC style gaming PCs to be used with a TV.

Are you sure it's a majority? I have 298 games on steam, 159 of which have a linux native...
