Hi guys so i was in maplin and saw a speedlink drfift oz wheel for £37.50 and thought for that price il grab it and see if i like using one ....
Wow i like the idea of using a wheel just NOT THIS ONE , deadzone horrendous in forza 3 horizon plus not to mention the amount of games that the wheel is not supported by ,bought some older games to see if it worked on those like grid one grid 2(no in car view) few dirt games not bad but still not good lol.
Anyway so im looking for a wheel that is supported by most racing games and of decent quality without a £200 price tag ...Any ideas then links to the wheel would be good ,thanks

No offence to those who own the latest Logitech wheel offerings but they are old hat now and have got that way quickly because there has been little improvement or evolution of their wheel since G25 days, and they are a 'gear' wheel, for a little bit extra, around £220, the Thrustmaster T300 is a far superior wheel and is belt driven which makes a big difference in smoothness and noise improvement when using it. These wheels also have an eco-system where you can buy different rims, pedals etc if wanted.

I will say the base pedal set is better in the Logitech set and makes a difference too.

If cost is important then sit and wait, the G29 and G920 are often around the £139 mark on offer somewhere

Although I agree the T300 is a better wheel, just to put some context into this as a longtime wheel user. I usually race using a T500, older but more powerful version of the T300. It has a fault so I've had to send it in for repair, in the meantime I am using a Logitech G29 (I used a G27 for years before getting the T500). It has made zero difference to my laptimes, yes the wheel feels lighter, more plasticky, pedals don't feel as good etc. I can achieve the same laptimes with the G29 as I was doing with the T500, perfectly usable wheels and great kit for the price. If it's your first wheel shelling out a fortune is a bad idea, there is no guaranteee you will stick with it. Logitech G29/G920 is a good starter wheel. More expensive kit won't make you faster, it just feels nicer.

I don't think anyone's claiming that a better wheel makes you faster :) You're right, it's about how much better it feels.

Anyway, it's not worth shelling out on a good wheel unless you're gonna play games that do it justice.

I was just trying to explain (badly) that the Logitech wheels are a great start point, and spending more money isn’t necessary (until you get hooked and then man logic applies)

Have you checked out the dofreality stuff Petey?

watch Currys for this I have seen the full bundle with H shift go less than £170

Yep, Curry's regularly drop the price on Logitech wheels, if you can wait you can normally pick up wheel and pedals for around £125.

I've got the G29 and a Playseat, I imagine more expensive wheels will feel better but I can't say I'm in any way disappointed with mine.

Even on DriveClub, which isn't the prettiest game, even a "cheaper" wheel can't ruin the immersion you feel with VR, wheel and seat.

I think the cheapest I seen was £149 with H shift was free

Changed my mind. I watched some reviews and a lot prefer the Thrustmaster TMX over the Logitech G920. The Thrustmaster doesn't have the faux leather but it does have a better steering mechanism.

The standard TMX can be had for £140 if you shop around and the TMX Pro for £200 the difference is that the Pro has better pedals and a clutch pedal too.

You can also go up to the full leather version if that tickles your fancy.

Sorry, I don't trust you.

Well I'm into racing, I worked for a diesel tuning company, owned many tuned cars and a drift car. I had this wheel with the full set up and after 3 months it was boring.

Its amazing at first i spent a solid 6 hours on it straight.

But saying that there well worth the money for what you can get them for these days :)
