steering wheel

I don't think anyone's claiming that a better wheel makes you faster :) You're right, it's about how much better it feels.

Anyway, it's not worth shelling out on a good wheel unless you're gonna play games that do it justice.

trust me ive had some of the best gear and im quickest on my beloved logitech DFGT set probably 100 world records on it :p top end gear though will be very well made but wont make you any faster.

the basic wheels i would start with which are worth buying are the logitech DFGT and the Thrustmaster t150.anything under them i wouldnt bother with.also you need to know the games support your wheel properly.

DFGT can be picked up for £50 on ebay.one thing to note though is try and get one that doesnt look like they worn as you can tell the different between a new one and used in feedback and such.

Glad I saw this thread, I've been keeping my eye open for a wheel for ages. Just picked up a G920 and shifter for £150 with a discount code!

Well I'm into racing, I worked for a diesel tuning company, owned many tuned cars and a drift car. I had this wheel with the full set up and after 3 months it was boring.

Fine, but that's just your experience.
Plenty of others like myself have been racing for years. Just because you got bored in a few months, it doesn't mean everyone else will.

Also, "Logitech G920 is the best". There's nothing wrong with it, but really?

You had 'some of the best gear' for a few days IIRC.
You're quickest on your DFGT because it's what you're used to after God knows how many hours of repetition it took set your Dirt Rally records.

You got given a Fanatec CSW and couldn't adjust to it within literally a few days and gave it back.
How many years had you been using the DFGT before that? Do you think that maybe switching to something with a larger rim and different FFB characteristics might take a little longer to adjust to, considering how locked in your habits and muscle memory are to what you're used to using?

what ? how do you know what gear i used ? i set top times in every car game going. with different wheels.

all top end wheels do is make it more realistic not faster.thats the honest truth.i know people with £10,000 set ups but they slow as hell but enjoy it a lot.thats fine but if you want to be fast you dont want your bones shaking to bits.

you dont want a larger rim for rally games especially as its muscle movements at the fastest speed you can manage.a bigger rim will make you slower.that's why you use lower degrees and a smaller rim.few days haha had it for quite a while and it wasnt a csw.i could have anything i wanted.fanatec were very good tbh.listened to all the feedback and even made different wheels.

when you rallying you dont want clunky big steering wheels or massive gear throws.you want lightening quick and small fast movements.

you don't have to " trust " my opinion the world records are there to be watched and promoted numerous times.

It wasn't a CSW? Really?
picnic yes its a whole kit from them. v2 wheel base v3 pedals, gear stick clamps rim, will add pictures and such soon of items and do a review. will hopefully be at weekend.

Had it for quite a while? Really?

Looking at your youtube list, all your times are in Dirt games.

Yeah, we've already covered this, but thanks anyway.

ED: Hang on, did you just say that Fanatec have produced new wheels based on your revolutionary feedback? If so, which one(s)?

i was sponsored by them.what does it matter to you ? you are trying to guess how long i had the set up or my dealings with them.stop guessing about what you dont know.this forums sometimes.everyone knows everything about everything

you do know you can use other names in racing rally games aswell? what do you want next blood ? for dna proof ? i have world records for mainly dirt games on youtube but also for wrc 7 on pc i have smashed top times in assetto and pcars.most videos i done are on dirt rally because i liked it a lot.why am i even explaining myself to you ? i was sponsored by one of the best producers of sim car gear all you put is i dont trust you lol.i stopped the sponsorship .

i had the set up way longer than you think i did inspector clueso.also i could pick any gear i wanted .anything and they would send it me.

it doesn't matter the rally racing game you can beat anyone on a cheap decent wheel.if we want to get back on topic.also if you new to looking for a wheel set up i personally say my opinion get a cheap second hand wheel like a DFGT or thrustmaster t150 for cheap try it out.see if you like it but they will still be pretty decent.if you want to go higher from there or more realistic you know what to expect.basically you pay for more realistic better build quality.not being faster.

the funny thing is i have set the top times with proof yet you haven't set anything yet your the expert :p if you had top times or world records in any car games using wheel set up i wouldnt even reply to you as you obviously have experience.please dont reply anymore i dont want to waste time debating about what you dont know about.

I'm not guessing.
The dates are there and plain to see.

Again, I'm basing what I say on the information available. All you've provided is vague waffle.

Once again, nobody is even debating this FFS...

I've never claimed to be setting world records, so I don't know what your point is.
I did run an Assetto time trial thread on here for couple of months at least, so you already know what kind of pace I run. Never saw you participate though.

Dg logic strikes again... Oh dear.
I honestly feel bad, like I'm picking on someone with special needs.

you still rattling on.....you got a message picture off steam so you know how long i had the set up ? so your basing everything on that.it was a vague chat i dont discuss my goings on like that.its general chit chat.i had the set up for quite a while. i doubt get why you debating that.fanatec wanted to know what feedback i could also give them to make items better what was lacking.i gave very in depth details on what could help make better set ups.they were very good .

this is how stupid it is this guy has saved steam messages about my set up ! how sad have you got to be to do that or have some weird motive to save a general chit chat? infact ingnore list for you.

*EVASIVE MANEUVERS!*

Ed: wtf are you on about regarding me having saved steam messages and saving a chat on this forum?
We've never spoken on steam and I simply looked up my own responses to you regarding the Fanatec gear in the Dirt Rally thread... That's where I got the images and the quote, you loony.

The black background is ocuk dark theme, not steam chat.. Gaaawd.
See, this yet another example for why I don't trust your opinion. Your reasoning ability and general intelligence is questionable at best.

Yeah it's a common misconception. Last time I checked, many top iRacing and RFactor drivers did use low cost hardware (G25, G27, DFGT...), and minimum force feedback.

I still want an OSW though :)

there is a rainy place offering both the Logitech g920 and g29 for £129

be quick and good luck to all lol

At that price, best starter wheel for sure;)

As above. Logitech G29 is £128.99 today or £155.00 with the shifter. Shifter is down to £26.99 and I'll get one at that price.

G29 is PC compatible and has the shift lights + brake bias adjuster.
