Stefano Domenicali steps down as Ferrari F1 team boss

Pushed. In the end, it's the results that matter in F1, and Ferrari haven't been performing to expectations for far too many years, despite having one of the best drivers on the grid.

Unless Mr. Domenicali was also responsible for the design and construction of Ferrari's F1 cars, I find it a little unfair that he takes the hit for Ferrari producing a series of stinkers that even Alonso struggled to drive.

Welcome to sport. Same way football team managers are the ones who get their heads chopped if the players don't perform.

As the team principal, ultimately he is.

The problem with making managers team principals. Ferrari should have replaced him with someone who knew racing and/or was an engineer.

Definitely pushed. Luca didn't look pleased with the performance at Bahrain and Stefano's time looked up.

I hope ferrari get their act together but ultimately it's technical issues that are holding the team back. Until they sort the design and development out, I'll have to continue watching ferrari flounder.

With Marco being brought in could this be Ferrari taking a Mercedes / McLaren stance on things and move away from the traditional Team Principal position. If that is the case there is possibility that a technical head will be put in place......................Brawn back to ferrari, with more power then he was being offered at Mercedes, and no need to do all the fluffy business stuff?

As much as i want to see brawn at McLaren, or back at Mercedes, the possibility is out there.

Tricky to guess who would take the position. Dont forget that ross brawn left after disagreeing with the new mercedes management structure. Only other person i could imagine is Pat Fry i guess. Everyone from lotus has been stripped away already.

His was offered a job a Merc but because they done away with a Team Principal position he left.

So I can't see him going to Ferrari when he could have stayed with Merc.

I think Brawn has confirmed he is definitely out for the rest of this season at the very least - and as above I cant see him coming back in a similar role to that at Merc (and maybe Im wrong, but imo he was much better at the hands on roles he was in previously rather than being the boss at Merc

(Brawn team being a bit inbetween, because he wasnt reporting to anyone and he probably still got a lot of hands on - it was alos only in existance for one season so a bit of a flash in the pan)

He was responsible for the people hired by the team to do those jobs, and he was responsible for the oversight of how those things did (or didn't) get accomplished. I think it's been since 2008 since they won a championship? That's plenty long enough to show whether Domenicali could do the job well enough. I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did give the poor results year after year.
