Steorn Demo at Kinetica

I'm still trying to reconcile two different thought processes.

one says this is all an elaborate hoax and that ya cannie change tha laws o' physics!

the other says hey, we used to think the sun orbited the earth...

Maybe it was a few member of the press, or some tourists. All gone now.

I've got fed up with waiting. So I've invented my own Free Energy machine. Based on the fact that there is such thing as a magnetic shield, can anyone see any reason this wouldn't work...

Ok, yellow is a non magnetic, perfecly balanced flywheel with a magnet attached.

Ok, flywheel turns around and magnet gets attracted to unsheilded fixed magnet. As the magnet gets almost touching, a catch on the flywheel touches a lever (green) which releases the magnetic shield (red). The wheel continues to rotate under its own inertia until it gets round half a revolution where the magnets are at their furthest points apart, when a catch on the flywheel (red circle) pushes the magnetic shield away until it catches. Back to begining.

You know how North and North or south and South Wont conect and push each other away?

Well with Bug ones idea why not do that? Make The magnets push away from each other to spin the wheel, have a few magnbets to make sure the wheel does full laps.

No need for a switch then

C'mon guys don't pee on his chips. With a good enough PR company this could get him the exposure he needs :D

I've heard there's a good one based in Dublin ;)

Now I've had a read of those links, they discuss this perpetual motion idea.

The main argument about why this wouldn't work is because putting all the north poles in a ring makes a dead spot of magnetism in the middle of them.

However looking at the Steorn thing it looks like it may be a similar design, but with the magnets in a slightly different position.....

and magnets don't last that long when you keep using them as magnets iirc

and are also very expensive (energy-wise) to create

Almost all of the perpetual motion machines "invented" have been based around the assumption that you can get a "magnetic shield".

It seems like a reasonable assumption, but it's not.

Bug One, I have worked off your fly wheel plans to create my own ingenious contraption of perpetual motion.

Next i plan to take over the world.

that wouldn't even move.

any perpetual motion machine based on magnets will always fail, because magnets have 2 poles and balence each of the poles out. even if you could get the perfect magnetic shield (which you can't) it still wouldn't work.
if you could make a magnetic monopole then maybe it would work, but you can't, end of story.

idiots have been claiming they made a free energy machine using magnets for the last 200 years - they were all wrong, as this one will be.

Ok captain, however i don't like your explanation of why it wouldn't move. How would the two poles balance out. It seems like a very wishy washy excuse to me. The website listed a few posts back lists only 1 perpetual machine that uses magnets

The principle behind my genius contraption is each inner magnet is repelled (N) by the outer magnet (N) acting on it. Each inner magnet is then (slightly) attracted to next outer magnet in the chain (N-S) before being repelled again (N-N).

In theoretical terms, why wouldn't it work. Oh and if your just going to post 'It wouldnt work and your an idiot' kindly refrain from doing so because this is just a bit of fun.
