stereo & microphone jacks

I've broke the stereo socket on the front of my case so the pc won't recognise my headphones when I plug them in. The back is already in use with my speakers.

I used to be able to make my headphones work in any socket on the motherboard or I/O panel. Just plug them in and I had a menu pop up to select which device I had plugged in wether it be headphones or microphone etc.

I used to do this on XP but now I'm on Win7, is there a way to do this with Win7 or not?

. It's on an old P5N-E SLI.

If you want the popup menu, install the manufacturers drivers for Windows 7.

I was the same initially. But I missed the popup and the Windows 7 way of setting the mic and speaker setup involved a couple too many steps so I started using the Realtek panel again. Can't say that it causes me any issues and I'm happy to use it.
