Hi all,

Got the proble with it not storing settings sorted, instead of switching the red/yellow wires around, i ran the red AND yellow from the HU into just the yellow one going to the car, and it now stores settings.

A problem i had to start with is that when the stereo is turned up loud (Higher than say, Volume 17) the stereo will cut out.

At first i heard a buzzing from the passenger front door speaker, so i checked it all, and it wasnt earthing out anywhere. Then i thought it could have been the steering wheel stalk control adapter, as it was wired in but not plugged in, so i disconnected it and i still have the problem.

I don't have a multimeter to check anything, but i've been and had the battery tested and thats fine, charging fine and also holding charge perfectly.

Any ideas where to start? Its not so much of an issue, i'd just rather know it works 100%.

Cheers,

Phil

Sounds like the internal amp of the HU clipping and turning itself off.

Can you run it out of the car on another power source and try and replicate the issue, just to prove that the car itself has nothing to do with it.

Well i've got 2 head units, 1 is the 2007 model and one is the 2008 model, and it does it on both of them, kinda rules out it being a Head Unit fault.

Could try it out of the car i suppose, not really fussed about having fancy stereos, never have been, could always look for a standard head unit if it does turn out to be the fault.

I'll see if i can try one of them out in another car.

I's cutting out cos it;'s a cheap stereo being rinsed? easy?

Is 17 a loud listening level? whats it 'max' out at? I'm guessing sounds bad at 17 anyway?

From what you have described it sounds like you have wired the memory and the 12v power feed of the stereo to the permenant feed from the car which is only designed to give enough power to store the settings when the ignition is off. The switched live off the ignition is the feed it sounds like you are not using and is generally the one designed to deliver enough current to run the stereos amps.

I might have that wrong but easy to rule it out.
