well i just eliminated zakhaev with my sniper and have ran away form the badies and am stuck at the part where you have to wait for the helicopter to arrive and defend yourself and your friend until it happens.

now i get to the part when there helicopters start coming and dropping off oeople and can't for the life of me get past it, i have just spent 2 hours doing that level over and over and there is no way i can find to do it.

i have tried everuything i think but the trouble is i can't find a good place to sniper them and the only good place to kill anyone with an auto gun doesn't make a difference once the chopper arrives as there is just so many bad guys plus having to run to pick up my guy and then walk slowly to chopper is impossible.

the furthest i get is to run to first chopper and shoot everyone as they jump then run to second and shoot them and whilst running back to first shoot who i can and then run into those little huts as no bad guy can hurt me and wait until the chopper comes but then there is like 100 bad guys still alive so impossible to get to the chopper.

is there a way to get them to stop respawning, no matter how many i kill there is always more returning and if i clear one area, go somewhere else the area i just cleared becomes full within seconds.

im set on second to hardest difficulty.

so any tips how to do it?

Set claymores and use a sniper rifle and ak47.

bugger, well that is what i have done but it just impossible to find cover and take out the bad guys at the same time for long enough until the chopper comes and then kill them quick enough to grab my friend, run to the chopper, before they respawn again
 
Place claymores where the enemy will take cover:

Cars
Walls
Trees

Snipe them at long distance and use an ak47 to mow em down
 
I placed claymores where they'd run between gaps, so that they couldnt come to near you, then i just sniped them all from a distance, and crouched near Cpt. Price.
 
i layed down on the wooden platform to the wheel. placed claymores mostly between the 2 buildings.

and aye, keep a machine gun as your second gun.

i know what you mean -it took me ages too but i got the answer but you may consider it cheating to an extent.

set all of you claymores in front of where all the guards pop our from the 'alley' area.

get yourself an AK and pick off the ones that remain fromt he first wave and/or shoot enough to let you enter the 'alley' area - you will see a doorway on the right - jump in there and peak around the corner of the door and shoot them as they come or go inside and go prone and shoot them as they turn into the dorrway.

they are much easier to pick off from this position.

until you have to reload, so you'd need to make sure you have a decent secondry weapon.
 
tbh i didnt find that too hard, claymores are the key, get them between the cars which add to the explosion and hit more people.

i positioned myself lieing down on the platform on the right side of the big wheel. some will get through but just finish then with your pistol.
 
this is the level where the big wheel is and its snowing?

i hid round the back of the big wheel and picked them off as they came round the wooden platform, when the chopper is about to land move up to your mate and get ready to grab him.

it took me ages to complete that level too, the first time i lasted long enough for the helicopters to arrive i just ran for them but couldn't get in. i then realised i had to get the guy on the bank lol.
 
I had the same trouble as you. I planted C4 and calymores around, then when those dudes roped down from the choppers I sniped as many as I could.
Once that was done I actually ran forward into the 'street' (nextdoor to where all the guys run from near the swimming pool). I hid round a corner here occasionally letting rip with my RPD at guys who were all looking my way but never came for me (apart from chucking grenades), meanwhile Cpt thingy was sniping away.

As soon as the chopper arrived I flashed the guys still left and made a run for it, got into the chopper and was then asked where my comrade was. I just legged it straight out of the chopper, gunning dudes as I ran, picked him up and walked back (surprisingly passing within 1 metre of a number of baddies) and fortunately made it just as the chopper was about to leave.

That was also on 2nd to hardest difficultly.
 
I just ran to the helicopters & shot the guys when they came out, think I could take out all of the first 2 copters. Then I just legged it back to the wheel & ran around like a crazy american in a highschool. Didn't use any claymores.
 
When i done it, i stayed under the Ferris Wheel and places claymores at both the enterances. Only thing to worry about is baddies coming from the dodgems. When the chopper lands, wait a bit untill the chopper crew shoot a few guys then make your move and get in the chopper.
 
The thing about this mission is that the guy you're meant to be "protecting" can't get killed so you don't have to worry about him at all.

I completed this (on 2nd hardest difficulty) by setting up my claymores around common funneling points like the wall and next to cars so more guys would get blown up by exploding cars, then hiding round the back of the dodgems and using my ak to pick off guys that got too close. Also stay on your feet as the enemy are fairly liberal with grenades

yeah thats true - the soldiers come in manageable waves though to be honest but you should have a good secondary at any point in the game.

the good thing about this tactic ids that you get lots of weapons from the soldiers that died fromt eh claymores in one area just before you bolt for the doorway in the alley.

I also completed this on Hardened I think it was, and I just ended up hiding in one of the cabins near the ferris wheel, having placed all my claymores as soon as the level starts it was then just a case of waiting it out.

There are some far tougher parts to come so don't worry :p
 
I snipped from the big wheel crouching/prone and then when there was to many or they got to close i moved behind the dodgems and used the MP5 and swapped sniper for AK from some of the dead soldiers. It is one of the hardest parts and took me ages to do but its a good feeling when you do it, Just keep trying dude. you will soon get it
 
I placed some claymores, think I had 2 left after that. Then I lay on the wheel platform, took out the first 2 or 3 helicopter drops, reloaded, took out a few more then when my platform was about to be overwhelmed, I legged it round the back of what I presume was a dodgems ride (to the right of wheel if you're looking towards where the soldiers come from). I stayed crouched there and took them out as they came round the corner.

Probably took about 30 attempts... that was on veteran.

Speaking of veteran. I never managed to do the VIP on aeroplane mission at the end. I always ran out of time:( Was it possible, and what happened if you did it?

Can I have another go at it? I started on arcade mode now.
