Hi,

Building a new system and hoping to be finished by next weekend - x99 and 5820K under custom wc loop.

Currently have aging 3xNEC 24WMGX3, driven by a GTX680. Playing primarily iRacing and Assetto Corsa with current system, which card runs fine albeit with some settings on medium.

Would like to scratch the high res itch with new single card option and monitors, but head tells me to wait for pascal to drive higher res, and IPS monitors available without QC issues the current models seem to suffer from.

Stick with the 680 and NECs for six months, or plump for 980ti, given that a single card will not drive 3 ROG PG279Q, so stick with the NECs and get some display fort to hdmi/dvi adaptors/cables?

Would wait for Pascal and a nice 4K monitor to go with it. Will be a much bigger upgrade than the current cards, and prices on 4K screens by then will be better along with better selection of newer monitors.

I just had to pick up a 970 due to one of my 670's biting the dust. I'd say as a cheap mini upgrade it's worth it, minimum fps is better than my SLI setup was, max is around the same give or take. Have not run into any stutter issues and with the Nvidia bundle + £20 cash back it worked out pretty cheap

I like the idea of a mini upgrade card, but all the relatively recent cards are display port only(to drive 3 minitors), so it would mean expense of additional adaptors/cables.

Will have to look at best card available to drive the NECs via dvi/hdmi.

If I went the way of a 980Ti, would simple displayport to hdmi cables do, or would I need some kind of active adapter (as the NEC monitors only have DVI or HDMI).
