stick with what i have?

Nvidia 8 series is inbound and there is also supposedly a new AMD gpu announcement tomorrow.

AMD CP is getting revamped and due to land any week now, if that's of any interest.

Regarding drivers, both can have hiccups, but overall I'd say go with your gut regardless the vendor.

oooo, ok, i shall wait!

ooo brill just had a look, ok thanks for that, yes looks like a bit more modern age.

i was tempted to upgrade to the

Gigabyte R9 280X WindForce 3X OC 3GB

but a GPU comparison site says its 'to close to call' when compared with current GPU

i think with my ideal budget, with my untrained eye, it doesnt look worth it.

2Gb isn't going to cut it at all.

Especially not on a 192 bit.

I went from a 780 to a 290x recently and wish I hadn't. It's a horrible card. I was going to crossfire it for 4k but now I'm going to an 800 series as soon as possible and I'll sli that if it's okay.

I've got an MSI 290x Gaming (twin frozr) and temps hit 94 under load at stock clocks when gaming and I've since found a lot of people having the same issues so if you do go for a 290 or 290x do not go for one from a company that also does Nvidia as they all seem to have recycled there coolers from that side of the field. (I've read this about the ASUS and MSI in particular)

From what I've read the AMD only people like Sapphire and XFX have done the better job for cooling the chip

"MSI 290x Gaming" colour me not surprised.... you do realise you are far from the only one with problems with MSI branded cards? some batches of them have issues with cooling, among other things.

You need to RMA that card, its broken, had you asked about that when you bought it we would have told you then, MSI are well know to have these problems on AMD and Nvidia cards. :)

Seems your case cooling isn't doing its job. My two none x don't pass 80c

Not always the case of being damaged. Before I moved mine more apart my two card used to hit 94c now it never passes 80c and that's with both them running.
